CV19 Update: All 865 Yoga Therapy Training is being taught online until further notice. We do our best to create schedules and timings for our students all over the world to participate. This is a great time to join our program if you would like to travel less. This unique opening for complete online learning is indefinite and we anticipate that is will be available for 18 months- 3 years.
The 865 Optimal State™ Certified Yoga Therapist Program combines the ancient wisdom of traditional yoga and Ayurveda, with modern Kinesiology, Psychology & Neuroscience. The goal of this program is to train you to become a competent Yoga Therapist who will build a successful telehealth practice (and beyond) so that you can have a sustainable lifestyle (financially and energetically).
The Optimal State Yoga Therapy Program will teach you how to work in the areas of mental and physical health. Yoga Therapy for mental health lends itself uniquely toward telehealth. We teach the subtle tools of yoga beyond asana (postures). These include breathing practices, meditation, sound, visualization, spiritual counseling, hand gestures for healing and lifestyle medicine.
The Optimal State Yoga Therapy Program is very special in that we train you for 6 months to build your perfect business, step-by-step. From the ground up we train you in every aspect so that you can successfully launch your business before you even graduate.

STEP ONE: Optimal State Therapeutic Specialist/Essential Framework Online Training

Wednesday Nights Online:
There are 90 hours of online curriculum. The Optimal State Essential Framework Online Training includes curriculum from the Tradition of T. Krishnamacharya and The Optimal State. This course includes online classes each Wednesday night from 4:00-6:00 pm (PST) for 12 months on the Zoom platform.
We cover 99 hours of curriculum over 9 Saturdays. We start in January and end in November each year. We will select and teach topics from the IAYT competency standards and we have a list of the topics for each one mapped out for you. For those students out of area, we will stream community days online.

STEP TWO: Optimal State Mental Health Specialist Series

184 hours of training (165 residential + 19 online). The residential portion is over two 9-day in-person modules (4 instructional days – 1 day off for digestion – 4 instructional days). There is also an online Zoom module spanning five months. The training starts in January with an in-person module, then Zoom module on Fridays for 19 weeks, and finishes with the July in-person module each year. You must complete all three modules; both in-person modules and the all online Zoom module. When you apply to the yoga therapy program we will create a personalized advising calendar with specific steps and dates for you.
ZOOM FRIDAY MODULE:
Zoom Fridays are an integral part of your training and will be held from 9-10am PST for a total of 19 Fridays between February and June. It will include 1-hour case study sessions offered three to four times per month. You will need to attend these online lessons in person. The case studies will also be recorded. These hours will include intake and assessment, reviewing the case, and writing a therapeutic plan for real client. These case studies will reinforce and show application of what the student learns in the residential modules and prepare you for the practicum in Step 5.
STEP THREE: Optimal State Physical Health Specialist Series
Upcoming Start Dates: September 10-19, 2021 & March 18-27, 2022
184 hours of training (168 residential + 16 online). The two 9-day modules (4 instructional days – 1 day off for digestion – 4 instructional days) will be held over zoom until further notice. There is also an online Zoom module spanning five months. The training starts in September with an in-person module, then 16 weeks of Zoom module on Friday mornings, and finishes with the March module each year. You must complete all three modules. When you apply to the yoga therapy program we will create a personalized advising calendar with specific steps and dates for you.
ZOOM FRIDAY MODULE:

STEP FOUR: Optimal State Professional Business Development Course
Upcoming Start Dates: May 9, 2022- November 16, 2021
100+ hours of business building covered over 6 months online. This is a course has that you watch videos each week and do the homework to build your business step-by-step. We have 1 additional LIVE hours each week online for you to get individual and group coaching. We also have a closed Facebook group specific to business that you will be a part of long-term to keep your business growing and flourishing long after you graduate from the program. We are in this with you for the long-haul!

STEP FIVE: Practicum
207 hours supervised practicum at student’s home location so that they can build their client base and business. This will include 115 hours of one-on-one work with yoga therapy clients with the Optimal State Yoga Therapist as the main provider of care. This experience will also include 35 hours of small group yoga therapy with the Optimal State Yoga Therapist as the main teacher. In addition to the 22 hours of mentoring, the student will practice their yoga therapy documentation skills for 35 hours.
The hours include work with clients, mentor hours, and documentation. The practicum student will be asked to do a full assessment of the individual, write up of the practice and teaching the practice, as well as follow-up with the client. The practicum student will also be asked to do a self-analysis or observation of each session they conduct.
22 hours of one-on-one supervision. The mentor will track and offer suggestions for individual case and group class taught by the teacher-training student. This supervision will include discussion of assessment, short-term and long-term course planning and self-analysis of how it feels to be a yoga therapist. This 22 hours of practicum mentoring is different from creating a personal daily practice or receiving advising about didactic learning.
