All Community Day Events Are Streamed Live Online (ZOOM)
Race Based Trauma Injury & Yoga Therapy 8:30am-12:30pm
Faculty: Janessa Mondestin
Race-based traumatic stress injury can be a consequence of emotional pain that a person may feel after encounters with racism, which can be understood in terms of racial harassment or hostility, racial discrimination or avoidance and/or discriminatory harassment, aversive hostility, and even unconscious racism, known and unknown personal prejudice. How encounters with racism are experienced depends on many factors associated with an individual’s background, health, and cognitive processing. Yoga therapists need to understand their own biases and also be able to put themselves in the shoes of another, trying to understand the other’s unique experiences of daily living.
The community day workshop events cover a broad range of topics that you can choose to attend either one or both half day topics.
Please select the appropriate event ticket for the topic time(s) that you would like to attend. Each ticket is good for streaming live online. See ticket descriptions for more details on specific topics. There are two separate links for each event date, one for the morning session and one for the afternoon session. If you would like to re-watch, you will also receive a link of the recording that is good for 30 days after the event.
The morning session of the Community Day will start at 8:30am PST. Once the program begins, it will be difficult for us to work with you individually, so please log in online before 8:30am to be sure you are able to attend effectively and not interrupt the other participants.
The afternoon session will begin at 1:30pm PST for streaming participants. The program begins promptly at 1:30pm, it will be difficult for us to work with you individually after we start, so please log in before 1:30pm to be sure you are able to attend effectively. Our day together will end at 5:00pm PST.
The morning live stream is from 8:30am-12:30pm and the afternoon live stream is from 1:30pm to 5:00pm. Lunch break will be from 12:30-1:30pm PST.
